Ty-breiz
933 Rachel St. E.

Open Sun.-Thurs. from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.; until 11 p.m. Fri.-Sat 521-1444.
Opened in 1959, Montreal's first Breton crêpe house is charming. The menu goes well beyond the trademark crêpes made from wheat or buckwheat flour. Almost all the appetizers, from the green salad to the escargots, are garlic-oriented.

The menu also offers lots of seafood (Brittany's other specialty), plus some hearty homemade sausages and more. The scallops, lightly breaded and delicately pan-fried, are terrific. For dessert, you can order a half-portion of sweet crêpe. Licensed. Major credit cards. Reservations recommended.
