Psarotaverna du Symposium
3829 St-Denis Tel. 842-0867 Mont-Royal métro

Monday to Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Every day, 5 p.m. to I I p.m. $50 for two before wine, taxes and service. Table d'hôte: $11.50—$16.50 (noon); $19.75—$23.95 (evening).
Chequered blue tablecloths, traditional music, fishing net hanging from the ceiling, traditional music, blackboard announcing the latest catch, traditional music, and Greek wine—it's all about the Greek islands—touristy but comfortable, tasty but simple. If you last came here fifteen years ago, you could walk in today, and swear that it comes within a hair of being the same (with the owner, it's chiefly the hair that's not the same). And quality fish is still the raison d'être (and the reason for the owner's debt), of this Greek taverna.
Toasted bread with the entrées. Fish priced by weight. Island wine blessed by Greek gods.

Sample menu: Taramosalata, tzatziki, fried squid, saganaki (grilled feta cheese), fried squash and eggplant, Greek salad, grilled fresh fish, octopus, shrimp, grilled chicken breast or lamb cutlets, baklava, Greek yoghurt with honey.
