Whitewashed and comfortable, this tiny eatery offers romance, Edith Piaf, meaningful wines (all available by the glass) and generous, beautifully presented, new-bistro cooking that will only get better as youthful chef Colombe St. Pierre settles in.
Rich, flavourful confit-de-canard salad ($7.50), ballotine of guinea fowl and terrine of boar ($7.50 for either) are suitably Gallic starters for several meat-based, refreshingly renewed bistro standards and a nightly fish of great distinction, all of them garnished colourfully with a bouquet of individually crafted vegetables (main dishes from $15 to $22). Well worth a visit.
