Malhi Sweet
880 Jarry W. Parc métro

Tel. 273-0407. Every day, 11 a. m. to 11 p.m. $15 for two before beer, taxes and tip. Table d'hôte: $5.50—$7 (noon and evening).
Tasty proof of the recent invasion of Park Ex by northern Indians and Pakistanis, Malhi Sweet is definitely worth dropping in to for a relaxed bite to eat in a Delhi cafeteria atmosphere. For less than $5 you'Il get a decent thali (a compartmentalized steel dish) filled with vegetable curry, dahl, salad, naan bread and Indian pickles. You couldn't ask for more... but you could ask for spicier! Fully half the menu is veggie. Lots of decent Indian desserts—including the omnipresent gulab jhamun, bhurfi and pera. Unfortunately, they only serve commercial brewery beers. Servers and owner are super pleasant. Humble cuisine, local clientele (from the Indian subcontinent as well as their former "colonies" such as Trinidad).

Sample menu: Vegetable samosas, chicken pakoras, lamb curry, chicken vindaloo, butter chicken, shrimp biryani, saag paneer, vegetarian thali, spinach naan bread, garlic naan bread, lime juice, chai, Indian sweets.
