Chenets, Les
2075 Bishop St.

Open weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 pm.; daily from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Licensed. Accepts major credit cards. 844-1842.
A citadel of traditional, butterfat-based French dining—with 50,000 bottles of wine, many in the four-figure range and even some at five figures—awaits your grand celehrations inside a truly fanciful room.

Les Chenets offers creamy snails, just-baked puff pastry, excellent cream of watercress soup, and tender pheasant, rabbit, lamb and duck in velvet sauces in a $35-plus table d'hôte (two appetizers, a main and dessert), or in extravagant pre-set wine and food deals of $350-plus (for two) and $2,500-plus (for six). Dour waistlines will complain, but your pleasure centres will be happy. Reservations recommended.
