Beijing
92 la Gauchetiere St. W.

Open daily from 11:30 a m. to 3 a.m. Licensed. Accepts major credit cards S61-2003.
Amid the perpetual revolution of our beleaguered Chinatown, you can still find a few places that offer reliably hearty, interesting food at reasonable prices. The Beijing is prominent in this group.

A classic Chinese restaurant with hand-lettered signs on the walls and throwaway plastic tablecloths, it's a place where four people can fill up for $50 plus tax. Despite the name, the menu is mainly Cantonese with lots of fish and seafood. The "Vancouver fish" turned out to be cod. Noodle dishes were first-rate.
