The food here is good—as long as you don't mind it being a bit on the sweet side. This uncharacteristic (for Japanese cuisine) sweetness revealed itself in all the dishes sampled—from the rice in the sushi to the marinade for the chicken yakitori.

The fish for the sushi was fresh, but the sweetish rice upset the taste balance somewhat, particularly with the hand rolls and grilled eel. Still, the hors d'ouvres are of good quality—things like shishamo, four whole, slender sea smelts char-grilled, crabs claws stuffed with shrimp puree and vegetables (eggplant, sweet potato and cauliflower) deep-fried in a lacy tempura batter.
