Saturday 12/09/00
It's minus 15 centigrade (5 fahrenheit, for all you southerners) and only slightly warmer than Mars at noon on a hot Martian day.

This is to warn you that Montrealfood.com is going into hibernation for three weeks starting Saturday, the 16th of December. It is on that date that I will be flying to Oakland, California, to experience the yearly holiday inculcation and to find out how my American relatives live (I'm American too—sorry.) They live very well, I might add, but they live expensively. At the restaurants that I visit in the Bay Area, tall food is taller than it is here, and about 15% more expensive. I promise a full report.

So carry on eating, Montreal! I don't know what Barry's doing for the holidays, but I'm sure he's going to be puttering about the neighborhood inventing new Flavourguy concoctions and generally causing a ruckus at olive oil conventions.

Une huile, une ville indeed!
